    Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Sri Lanka.

  • 3

    Onward Travel Evidence

Immigration officers may ask for proof of onward or return travel. Keep your return flight booking confirmation accessible.

  • 4

    Visa-Free Countries

Citizens of certain countries (including Singapore, Maldives, and some SAARC nations) may enter visa-free. Check the official Sri Lanka Immigration portal for your nationality.

  • 5

Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has two distinct monsoon seasons affecting different parts of the island, meaning there is always a great region to visit year-round.

Dec – March β€” West & South Coast + Hill Country
Peak season for beaches. Perfect weather on the west and south coasts. Excellent visibility for whale watching in Mirissa.
April – September β€” East Coast β€” Trincomalee & Arugam Bay
East coast beaches and surf season. Arugam Bay is world-class for surfing. Yala National Park is best for leopard sightings.
Year Round β€” Cultural Triangle
Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy can be visited comfortably throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes β€” Sri Lanka is generally very safe for international tourists. It is a welcoming, hospitable nation with low levels of violent crime. As with any destination, standard travel precautions apply. Our drivers and guides accompany you throughout, ensuring a worry-free experience.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and personal liability. Sri Lanka has both private and government hospitals; private hospitals (e.g., Lanka Hospitals, Asiri Hospitals in Colombo) provide excellent care and are used by international visitors.
The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). US Dollars, Euros, and British Pounds are widely accepted at hotels and larger establishments. ATMs are available in all towns. We recommend carrying a mix of local currency for markets and smaller vendors.
The official languages are Sinhala and Tamil. However, English is widely spoken in tourist areas, hotels, and by our guides and drivers. You will have no difficulty communicating throughout your trip.
No vaccinations are legally required to enter Sri Lanka (unless arriving from a yellow fever zone). However, the UK NHS and US CDC recommend being up-to-date on Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and standard travel vaccines. Consult your local travel clinic at least 4–6 weeks before departure.
We provide private air-conditioned vehicles with professional drivers for all transfers between destinations β€” the most comfortable and reliable option. Sri Lanka also has a scenic train network (ideal for the Kandy–Ella route) and tuk-tuks for short local trips.
Tap water is not generally recommended for drinking. Bottled water is widely available and inexpensive. All our hotels provide drinking water, and we ensure supplies during tours.
Sri Lankan cuisine is vibrant, spiced, and delicious. Rice and curry is the staple, but international cuisine is available everywhere. Seafood on the coast is exceptionally fresh. Vegetarian and vegan options are plentiful. Our guides can recommend the best local eateries.
We recommend booking at least 4–8 weeks in advance, especially for peak season (December–March). For bespoke itineraries, earlier bookings allow more time for personalisation. We do accommodate last-minute enquiries when availability permits.
Tipping is appreciated but not obligatory. A typical guideline: USD 5–10/day for your driver, USD 8–15/day for your guide. Tips can be given in any major currency and will be genuinely welcomed.
